This proposed ban, if implemented, would cause significant disruptions, deprive the military of mission-critical talent, and compromise the integrity of transgender troops who would be forced to live a lie, as well as non-transgender peers who would be forced to choose between reporting their comrades or disobeying policy. As a result, the proposed ban would degrade readiness even more than the fa... See More

Today's announcement [i.e. Trump's announced ban for transgender individuals in the US army] violates human rights of all transgender Americans. It lays bare the President's prejudice and underlines the fact that creating policy based on bigotry is becoming a dangerous and a cruel pattern for President Trump. The administration continues to target minority communities without pause and without fac... See More

The idea that it’s too expensive to retain transgender service members is laughable to me. It costs more to replace two highly trained transgender service members [in the US army] than to provide health care for every last one of them

From what I have experienced, open transgender service strengthens our military. Enabling soldiers to pursue their gender identity allows them to feel a part of the Army’s team and empowers them to be all they can be. Every soldier deserves to have that experience, including the thousands who are transgender.

Millions of dollars and training hours have been consumed with lectures on how to deploy transgender personnel in a war zone that has laws against that behavior. Military commanders should be focused on fighting wars, not on how to deal with transgender personnel

The military has always been at the forefront of civil rights and equality in our society, and that should never change. But this policy [i.e. allowing transgender individuals in the army] is not a question of equality, it is a matter of basic safety and combat effectiveness. It asks the other 39 soldiers in a transgender soldier’s platoon to potentially sacrifice their safety for one soldier’s af... See More
